Sahii Re Sahii!!

It was a windy Friday evening because of the onset of cyclone Biparjoy and I was headed to watch the very famous and long running in theaters Marathi play(natak) "Sahii Re Sahii"! It was a laugh riot. From the very beginning to the end it just keeps you hooked, intrigued and in an awe of what's happening on the stage. The protagonist is played by the brilliant Bharat Jadhav who right from his entry echoing with clapping crowd to the closing of curtains with a standing ovation of the audience completely encapsulates your attention all along. With the advent of OTT the patience and concentration while watching content is definitely reduced but when you get a chance on a windy Friday evening to catch a play, don't miss it, because nothing is equivalent to see such multi-talented bunch of actors performing live. No replay, no forward , no pause, 100 percent concentration from both the ends makes it so much therapeutic. I was surprised by the fact that I did not see my watch even once during the entire play, which in itself is a proof of how engaging the play was.

One man, four characters. Yes Bharat Jadhav plays 4 totally different characters on the stage and within minutes you can differentiate among them, but before you realize he was playing character 1, you catch him in place of character 2 and before you settle with that he is already playing character 3 and before you take the next breath he is in character 4. He flows like a river on set with different tributaries flowing from different directions. His movements are so swift that even while you have all the concentration on the stage, it still feels like an illusion. Every character has a pun from walking style to clothing to catchphrase and so much more.

Of all the characters my personal favorite was "Galgale", one of the sweetest of all 4. His catchphrase is something everyone in the audience takes home. So basically this character talks to himself loudly before every action and interaction. It is something we all actually do but it is so by default in our brains that we don't speak out aloud before actions though we do speak to ourselves. We all have that Galgale in us who talks in third person and tells us what is wrong/right, what to do next and what not to do next. That inner voice, though not acknowledged by us, actually stays with us in all our good and bad times, talks to us in every phase of our lives. It sometimes contradicts with us, sometimes plays along. Swami Vivekanandji said ,"Talk to yourself once in a day, otherwise you may miss meeting an excellent person in this world." Galgale never misses meeting the excellent person let us also not miss that too!

The show that I saw was the 4355th iteration and I was blown away with this fact. How can someone do something with so much energy, subtleness and accuracy for so many years. It seems like fruit of passion of the writer, director , musicians and actors. The title song also makes you groove in your seats, and that is when he simultaneously  switches in between characters within a blink of an eye.

After the play ended at around 11:15pm there was a queue of audience waiting to meet Bharat Jadhav and within less than 10min he was up for meeting people and clicking pictures with everyone. I personally met him and told how much I liked the play. All in all if you want to laugh your heart out do catch this play in theaters near you.

Thus I came out very happy saying "Atta Galgale mast natak baghun gharii challe"(Now Galgale is going home after watching a great play)!!

Happy Reading,

Until next time,

Siddhi Bhosale.

The Teacup Talks!⛾⛾

The Teacup Talks! A fictional tale of two tea cups! The moon is looking from the window, the tea cups are just washed and kept on the side of the sink to dry before one of them is filled with the first piping hot tea next morning. The 2 teacups are special, it's just the two of them that are left of the set of 6, the other's had a short life. But these two have survived. The silence has started talking loudly, and so have the Teacups, the moon eavesdrop their talk, and this what he hears.... Teacup 1: Hey, are you still awake after the shower? Teacup 2: (with a little shocked expression as Teacup 1 rarely talks) Umm, yes I am awake, how are you awake, you generally sleep soon after the night shower. Teacup 1: (a bit shy yet firmly replying) You are right dear, it is because I am used thrice in a day, so basically I take shower also thrice and that really tires me, but today it was only once in the evening, so I am not that tired and felt like if you are also awake we could have...

Summer Holidays in Gwalior!

Sketch of the House by Mumma! Me, Durva & a Cow on the gate! Once upon a time when the month of May used to be summer vacations, we used to visit Gwalior, a city, a district, a historically important place, and more than that my birth place. It was quite simple, the first ten summer vacations of my life were just going to Gwalior, there was no stress of packing clothes, books, shoes, sunglasses, everything was taken care of by Mumma. It was so exciting to catch a train and enjoy it for 19 hours to travel 1220 kms.  I started writing this blog once before this and ended up writing all about the train journey only and felt like the train journey to Gwalior is in itself a topic for a blog which I will write some time later. For now I want to relive my summer vacations in Gwalior through this blog, and I hope you too recall and reminisce about your childhood summer vacations after reading this one.  So it always began with searching for Patil Baba (Blog link: https://sidthissid...

Virtues Nursery!

Goswami Madam and mini Siddhi! God cannot be everywhere so he created Parents and Teachers. Parents often see us grow all along but teachers witness us only for some years and then we grow up and move on to the next class and they are left behind with a new batch of students. My first school or now as they say playschool was ‘Virtues Nursery’ where I did my playgroup and nursery under the guidance and great teachings of my most respected and dearest Goswami Madam. The name of the school was a reflection of what we were taught, yes ‘virtues’ of respect, conduct, care, love, sharing and so much more. I still remember being taught how to sit properly, how to respect elders, how to eat food when sitting with a gathering alongside the alphabet, numbers and poems. After a certain point we are generally taught the syllabus of our curriculum, but it was in Virtues Nursery that lessons on life and the conduct of it were actually taught.  Goswami Madam could teach us ‘Virtues’ as she ...
