Today was the most eventful day in my entire college life! Initially it was a normal day with lectures commencing from 10:30 am, when I entered the class it was almost vacant and while entering the class I was contemplating why did I even come to college today, as most of my classmates did not come, as we only had lectures and no lab so basically a fertile ground for taking a holiday. It was an Applied Data Science lecture where we were taught about various visualisation charts and at the end there was an assignment. Then after the lecture me and my friend came out of the class and saw the fire exit staircase doorway open which is otherwise always closed, but we did not gave it enough attention and went on to attend our next lecture. Sir came and I took out my notebook and pouch from the bag and suddenly sir said evacuate the class, and we thought maybe it's something that he wants to teach us in the subject Project Management, so we were all chill but then suddenly he went and switched off the lights and fans. He shouted, "there is a fire alarm, get up and go save your lives". That's when we realised it was for real and the alarm was on, so I anxiously packed my bag and while we were running down, sir said to a student," Life important hai yaa laptop". And after listening that we are all more afraid. Then when we came down and were in front of the building we searched for fumes but we couldn't see any. So then my friend said this must be a fire 🔥 drill as they had it every year back in diploma college. Then I felt a little better. But still all the college including students, teachers, non teaching staff and every human being was out of the college and suddenly we saw some kids wearing orange jackets and thus I asked them and it was confirmed that it was a fire drill and not real fire. It was a sigh of relief for those like me who did not know that this happens every year but we are a COVID batch, so it was our first in the last year of college!
The eventful day continues when we return back to class where the same sir divides us into group of four and assigns us with three tasks namely: making maximum number of paper planes with a sheet of paper in a stipulated time, then writing maximum numbers on a sheet of paper again in fixed time and lastly to draw on the paper in a time constraints. So we had to decide the time we wanted for each activity and tell sir in advance. Then there was a time keeper for each group to keep a watch on us whether we complete the task in the time we promised or not. Thus trying to teach us how project management works in practical cases. It was really funny and exciting to make paper planes in my final year of college! After the lecture we even flew those planes and saw them crash, just as the way we thought engineering was fun and then COVID crashed it for us, but as COVID has moved on we too have and now we are re-routing our planes to take our flights!
Then the last lecture got cancelled and we went to the auditorium to see a musical drama based on the life of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. I consider myself fortunate to get a chance and seat in the auditorium, because the musical drama was mesmerising. All the performances, lights, sounds, songs, dances everything was on point and captivating. It started from the birth of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and went on to put light on his major accolades. The powada and bharud are my new favourites after the play, they were performed with so much enthusiasm and passion that the audience was almost singing along. My friends who do not even understand Marathi loved the play, as music has no language boundaries and Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's history speaks for itself.
Pumped with a lot of positive energy from the play I wrote this blog on my way back home , telling myself that coming to college today was the best decision I made, as today was the most eventful day at college. So once in a while college should be attended not for lectures but for such unexpected experiences!
